Naming my Etsy Shop

Naming my business was one of the hardest things I had to do in prepertion for opening. I wanted the name to reflect who I was and what I wanted to do but it also needed to be catchy so customers would remember.

I would think of a name, set up an email, get other social media sites set up, than find another business with the same name. Yes I would always google it first but some how it would slip through.

Then one day my mum reminded me about the business name I thought of in college years ago, OrangePeelPaperie. My favorite colour has always been orange and I orangepeel was cute. I loved it and decided to roll with it, to date I haven't found another store with the same name.

When I decided to set up the jewelry store,

I thought of orangepeeljewelry right away ... but there was already a store with that name ... and they made jewelry out of dried fruit skin..

so I couldn't argue. lol In the end I setteled on my name JuniperTulipJewelry and haven't found a store matching it yet :)

So my advice would be to take your time, come up with something you like and that is distinctly you. Search Etsy, Amazon, Ebay, Redbubble and any other sites you might sell on to make sure its not taken and than lock it down. Once you pick a name than set up your email since you need that for everyother site you use or share to.

Small Shop Owner Woes

My little Shop Small Blog has suffered these past few weeks because I have been so sick. This is the plight of the small shop / blog owner. In the future the best plan would be for me to have some extra posts already written and ready to go for those awful sick days!

I have been working on getting my etsy shops back up and running so I can take advantage of the holiday season!

I am loving Etsy's new seasonal support options! They have downloads for wrapping paper, greeting cards and gift tags! They also have a new program that lets you quickly make cute personalized advertisements! (see below)

Get Your Shop Started!

What Are You Waiting For :D

Are you a painter or a handmade maker? This is your time to shine! Sites likes Etsy and Zazzle are ripe for the picking! It a golden age of shop small handmade items where creative creaters can start to make a little extra money or blossom into a full time crafting and selling!

Sites likes these offer a platform to launch your business for little start up costs. Zazzle takes a  percentage of your sales and you set the commission rate! This site is best for folks who have a knack with print design and photography. You simply upload your image and select what items you would like to see them on.

Etsy is a place where you can sell any handmade items digital or hard copy. It costs 20 cents to post an item for sale and they take 3.5% cut of the sale. It is a pretty low rate so there is still a lot of room to make a profit. Etsy caters to crafters, craft suppliers and antiquers but also allows room to grow into a wholesaler!

It's worth taking a look at if you love what you craft and create. Below are some amazing shops from around these sites!
